Jackson Christian School exists for a unique purpose. It is, as the name states, a Christian School. Many people misunderstand exactly what a Christian school is.
Some believe it is a school where all students are Christians, therefore never do anything wrong. While high standards are encouraged, the above view is unrealistic. Even
Christ would not claim that his twelve closest followers made no mistakes. A Christian school is not even a place where the teachers are perfect.
Some folks think a Christian school is a place where students are sheltered from the real world. There are days when I wish that were more true. But to be honest you
cannot bring students out of the real world from 8:00 to 3:15 everyday without bringing the real world into Jackson Christian School. We deal with most of the real world
problems that affect young people today, we just do not deal with it in the magnitude that some places do.
So if JCS has its own warts and imperfections and if you cannot hide from the real world there, what is the difference? The difference is the purpose of Jackson Christian
School. While education in math, science, English, and the other disciplines is vitally important, there is another area that JCS is committed to. It is the area of
helping young people discover who and what they are. They are made in the image of God and they and all people have worth and dignity.
Jackson Christian is truly about helping students find their roots. This task is not accomplished in one simple way. Through Bible classes and daily chapel assemblies,
students are encouraged to know God better. Groups such as Eagles for Christ offer opportunities for service that allow students to discover the pleasure of helping others. Across the curriculum and throughout the faculty, the ultimate goal is helping students understand who they are and
where they fit into God's creation.
Jackson Christian believes quality education must include the ageless values found in God's word -- the same values which were once so widely accepted in our country. That
is what makes Jackson Christian School such a special place.
