Course Descriptions:

 

Economics:
This course is designed to inform students how individual choices directly influence occupational goals and future earnings potential.  Real world topics covered will include income, money management, spending and credit, as well as, saving and investing.  Students will design personal and household budgets; simulate use of checking and saving accounts; demonstrate knowledge of finance, debt, and credit management; and evaluate and understand insurance and taxes. This course will provide a foundational understanding of making informed personal financial decisions.

 

Financial Planning (3 hours credit)
Students have the option of earning college credit through the University of Tennessee at Martin by taking "Personal Finance" at JCS.  Students must have an overall high school GPA of at least 2.3 and a score of at least 20 on the ACT to be eligible.  Credits may be transferred to other universities.
