All high school English students are required to purchase the following:

MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers--Seventh Edition.  ISBN: 9781603290241 (paperback). 

Here is a link to the MLA store, where you can purchase the edition that we will require: http://www.mla.org/store/CID30/PID363.  You may also get the book from other sources like Amazon.com or a bookstore, but make sure that you have the SEVENTH edition.  Just published this year, the SEVENTH edition details the latest changes to MLA style.   

These supplies should be brought to class on Thursday, August 6:

• One three ring binder (1 ½  inch width) – used for English ONLY
• Loose leaf paper
• One pocket folder
• Pencils and pens
• One highlighter
• Two book covers – Students will be expected to cover books and keep them covered all year.  The grammar and literature books are large books.  Therefore, if you buy the fabric covers, please get the large ones.
• Five dividers  
• Planner – This is not required but is a good idea for 9^th graders to have.  This will help them stay organized with assignments for all subjects.
