Supply Checklist for Senior English
Moran

2009-2010

All high school English students are required to purchase the following:

MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers--Seventh Edition.  ISBN: 9781603290241 (paperback).

Here is a link to the MLA store, where you can purchase the edition that we will require: http://www.mla.org/store/CID30/PID363.  You may also get the book from other sources like Amazon.com or a bookstore, but make sure that you have the SEVENTH edition.  Just published this year, the SEVENTH edition details the latest changes to MLA style.

Other Supplies:

____One three-ring binder (1 and ½ inch or 2 inch width)—used for English ONLY

____Pencils and pens

____One colored pen

____One highlighter

____College-ruled loose leaf paper

____ USB or flash drive

____Dictionary

____Thesaurus

Please make sure that the dictionary and thesaurus are easy to fit in a locker and backpack.  Students will have access to hardback dictionaries at school; however, they will not be allowed to take them home.

____One planner

These can be purchased at Wal-Mart (where I got mine) or bookstores.  The most helpful ones have space to write and have the dates already in them.  A student is doing himself/herself a favor by staying organized!

____Book cover--NO CLOTH

Students will be expected to cover their books, and to keep them covered all year.  I think old-fashioned brown paper bags are the most protective, the longest-lasting, and the cheapest option.
