Student Information:
Algebra I
Pre-Algebra
Course Descriptions:
Pre-Algebra:
In this course, students will solidify
their understanding of real numbers at a level and in a context
appropriate for middle school students and will be introduced to
algebraic concepts in a real world context. Solving linear
equations, interpreting graphs, and using rules of exponents are
some of the major topics they will learn. Students will gain an
understanding of these algebraic concepts as they develop skills
that will prepare them for Algebra I.
Algebra I:
This course uses problem situations, physical models, and
appropriate technology to extend algebraic thinking and engage
student reasoning. Problem solving situations will provide all
students an environment, which promotes communication and
fosters connections within mathematics, to other
disciplines and to the real technological world. The concepts
emphasized in the course include functions, solving equations,
slope as rates of change, and proportionality.
