Endowment Started to Improve Teacher Salaries
In December of
2001, a very generous friend of JCS made a lead gift of $100,000 to start an
endowment fund that would be specifically targeted to improving teachers'
salaries.
At the present time, salary increases are tied directly to tuition
increases. In light of our goal to keep tuition affordable, it is difficult to
improve teacher salaries as needed.
Thanks to an additional gift of $365,000 in August of 2006 from the estate of
Dr. Jimmy and
Lisa Kee, the balance in the endowment fund currently stands at $795,000. Our
near-term goal is to have $1,000,000 in this fund, which will allow us to
support teacher salary increases of three to four percent each year from
interest earned. This opportunity will allow JCS to be more competitive as we
continue to recruit and retain the best possible faculty.
We are encouraging our friends to use the avenue of Planned Giving to grow this fund. If you have not considered making a bequest to JCS through your will, naming the school in a trust or an annuity, making outright gifts of appreciated property or stock, or contributing through some other planned giving vehicle, please consider doing so. Not only are these wonderful tax advantages for the donor, but also through your support, you will be securing the future of JCS for years to come.
If you are interested in being a part of any of these opportunities,
please contact Mrs.
Pam Ragan, administrative assistant, at 731-668-8055.
