Fine Arts

The JCS Fine Arts Department exists to honor God through excellence in the arts and to encourage the development of the whole child.

As children of a marvelous Creator, the ultimate Artist, each of us has an inherent desire to be creative, a desire that is fundamental to being made “in the image of God.”  We see the fine arts not as an extracurricular add-on, but as integral to the mission of the school. JCS offers a wide selection of excellent, award-winning programs in a number of areas including Band/Instrumental Music, Choral Music, Theater, and Visual Arts,

Band/Instrumental Music: The JCS band/instrumental music program offers students the opportunity to participate in the Eagle Marching Band, Eagle's Nest Pep Band, and the Concert Band as well as regional and state honor bands. JCS has been consistently recognized for excellence on the local and regional levels, receiving numerous honors and accolades.

Choral Music: The JCS Choral Music Department is being introduced this year, and already it is one of the most popular activities on campus. Under the leadership of a veteran choral director, the program looks to quickly become one of the best around.

Theatre: The JCS Theatre Department is one of the most recognized programs in the state, and the annual productions draw capacity crowds from all over Tennessee. Additionally, JCS students have been invited to perform at Walt Disney World in both of the last two years. JCS plays are open for participation for students in grades 6-12.

Visual Arts: The JCS Visual Arts Program gives students the opportunity to participate in a variety of courses, including Beginning Art, Drawing and Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Multimedia/Video Production, Graphic Design, and Honors Art. JCS students have won numerous awards for visual art, including recognition at the local, state, and national levels.
